Job Description

A specialized manufacturer of high-reliability electronic assemblies and engineered components is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead plant quality operations in Santa Maria, CA. Reporting to executive leadership, this role oversees the plant Quality Management System (QMS), leads a team of 4–5 inspectors and test technicians, and manages internal/external audit programs.

The QA Manager works directly with customer engineers to troubleshoot technical test failures, dispositions non-conforming hardware, ensures equipment calibration compliance, and conducts periodic supplier quality audits.

  • Manage day-to-day operation of the Quality Management System (QMS) and serve as the primary management representative for quality audits.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of quality inspectors and electronic test technicians.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering teams to troubleshoot product testing and technical requirements.
  • Manage non-conforming material disposition, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) programs, and Root Cause analysis.
  • Coordinate equipment calibration programs and final shipping release documentation.
  • Perform periodic supplier quality audits and source inspections (3–4 trips per year).
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, or technical quality oversight within a manufacturing or military technical environment (e.g., Navy Submarine/Nuclear program, Air Force QA, Aviation/Defense maintenance).
  • Demonstrated experience working within structured quality frameworks (ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, or military equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical schematics, customer specs, and test documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technical discipline OR equivalent combination of military nuclear/technical training and practical leadership experience.
