Job Description

The Maintenance Technician Electrical job is a core component for our maintenance forces and requires a trained and experienced individual to continue our success as one of the world's largest steel producers.

As a Maintenance Technician Electrical you will perform all electrical maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment, pendant and overhead cranes and forklifts. You will also install, maintain, repair, and operate a broad range of electrical systems and electrical equipment in a heavy industrial environment to maintain continuous operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair a broad range of electrical and electronic systems and equipment using schematics, AC/DC systems, and PLC's. (they will train you on PLCs and other platforms; they just need to hear that you have a hunger and ability to learn new technologies).
  • Provide assistance in operating functions as necessary.
  • May work alone with minimal supervision or with other maintenance technicians.
  • Work in various areas of the plant locations is required.
  • The environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work with be required.
  • Hours are 4, 12 hour shifts that rotate between days and nights with 4 days off in between. This results in working some weekends/holidays and built in overtime.
Requirements
  • Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem solving skills
  • Knowledgeable of VFDs, principle design, programming, and trouble shooting skills; I.O. systems and design layout; three-phase motors and ability to troubleshoot; network infrastructure; basic mechanical components in a mill; basic Hydraulic systems, how they operate and design layout
  • Demonstrated proficiency using precision measuring instruments
  • Experienced with mobile equipment. ( Rough Terrain, Man Lift, Fork Lift Carry Deck or Broaderson) nice to have
  • Basic computer skills; MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is a plus
  • Read Electrical drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Knowledgeable of programming and troubleshooting logic to include ladder logic, function block programming (nice to have)
  • HS diploma or equivalent is required; electrical degree or training is preferred
